Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity is an exciting new destination for families, school groups, and curious minds of all ages! Located in the Steele Ocean Sciences Building at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Beaty Centre brings the underwater world of Nova Scotia to life through interactive exhibits, live local species, hands-on activities, and real research happening right here in Nova Scotia.

Whale, hello there.
Suspended from the ceiling of the Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity, the skeleton of an adult blue whale, measuring 18 metres in length, serves as the centrepiece of the space. Experience the incredible Blue Whale species through Ocean School’s AR technology, stepping into a stunning augmented reality experience that showcases the scale and beauty of these ocean giants.
