Visitor Policy
To ensure the best experience for our visitors, team, and species, we have a few policies in place.
Behaviour Policy
Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity team is dedicated to creating a warm, safe, and respectful space for our guests, staff, and animals. To ensure everyone’s well-being, we kindly ask that all visitors refrain from any behaviour that might jeopardize the safety or comfort of others.
Anyone displaying aggressive, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory actions will be asked to leave.
The visitor will assume responsibility for any damage to the centre property and agrees to fully compensate the centre for all costs associated with the repair or replacement of centre property.
Unruly or unsafe behaviour that endangers animals or interferes with business operations will not be tolerated and can result in the denial of admission to or immediate removal from the centre without a refund
Children
All youth, ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult (16+) at all times. Beaty Centre reserves the right to verify the age and identity of any unaccompanied minor or young guardians.
Food and Beverage
There are no food services or designated lunch areas available within the centre. To protect the aquarium exhibits, food is not permitted in or around aquarium spaces. Drinks are allowed only if they are in bottles with secure lids. Outdoor lunch space is available by request for school groups in May and June; this space is not guaranteed.
Photography
Photography and video are allowed. No flash photography allowed in and around the aquarium spaces.
Smoking
As per Nova Scotia Government Law, smoking of any type, including e-cigarettes, is prohibited anywhere on Dalhousie University’s campus including Beaty Centre for Marine Biodiversity.
